The introduction is so boringly cliché and misleading. It makes you think that the universe is going to be modern post apocalyptic fiction (with tanks, aircrafts, devasted cities and kaijus) when it’s actually (without proper transition) magical dark fantasy medieval. Just as if humanity forgot how to use canon powder, refine metal and build concrete building instead of unefficient medieval castles, swords and shields. Plus magic, orgres and maju on top of it. Of course there is always this one lil fker to say « finally out !! » and something that is clearly crappy executed except they have budget thanks to Netflix production. Go and watch Berserk, at least it has deepth and personality in its making.

this came out in in the 90s, but the prologue and set up for the world lore have more depth than 80-90% of fantasy stories from 2010s to today even when they put a lot of jokes in it.

this days fantasy story isekai or not relies TOO damn much on established setting/lore, everything is just DnD with another skin or even default af, every world got an adventurer guild, unimaginative magic system with game-like leveling system which most just steal directly from previous stories before without tampering it even for a bit. it's just stereotypical stuff without being polished at all, there's no ingenuity in it.

it doesn't need to be serious, hell this shit got metal band name for spell. but it got to have it's own SOUL in it, identity. don't just borrow stuff up
